Do you often find yourself busy but not accomplishing much? Maybe you browse Facebook and see everyone else getting things done while you are losing time and never really doing much. Here is the good news — you can accomplish more each day by simply planning your day rather than letting your day plan you. It is possible to practice self-care, have a career and be there for your kids’ soccer games. Here are some tips to help you get more done each day.
#1 Set Priorities
The first step is to make a list of priorities. What things must you absolutely accomplish each day? Make sure you set realistic expectations. If your to-do list is too long, then cut out some things.
#2 Stop Saying Yes
Many people end up taking on too much, not because they want to, but because they have trouble saying no. Before saying yes, ask yourself whether it will make you feel more worried and stressed. If so, then the right answer is “no.” Be direct and don’t make excuses. Simply tell the person that you cannot do what they ask.
#3 Avoid Multi-Tasking
This might seem counterintuitive but multitasking can actually slow you down. It is difficult to pay attention when trying to do multiple things simultaneously.1 This can result in errors and mistakes and result in you having to take more time to go back and fix errors. Rather than trying to do many things at once, complete one task at a time.
Follow the above tips for just a month and you’ll notice a big difference in how much you get accomplished.
